4S Ranch Health Center San Diego, California
The 4S Ranch Health Center is a unique 40,000 square foot Spanish Hacienda style health center located in San Diego, California. The Spanish Hacienda architecture for this building was realized with design elements such as a smooth plaster-like exterior finish, a low-pitched clay tile roof, stone quatrefoil elements, wrought iron accents and balconies, pre-cast concrete columns and accents, and rounded arch windows. Once completed the building was certified LEED Silver and also meets all of the CalGreen requirements.
In addition to the building shell, Lusardi completed three interior tenant improvements for the future occupancy of cCare, Arch Health Partners, and Rady Children’s Hospital. Among many high-tech equipment like PET/CT scanners and other diagnostic tools for these tenant improvements, the cCare build-out required a complex Linear Accelerator Vault. The 2,500 square foot vault and support facilities are complex and designed with 4-foot thick and 8-foot thick concrete modular walls; allowing the practice of intense laser therapy treatments. The structural addition of the vault required a 3-foot thick mat slab 4½ feet below the adjacent finished floor. The enclosure walls are made up of high-density interlocking concrete blocks suitable for the vault and installed by a certified shielding company. The structure is topped off with lead roof panels that reach up to 2½ inches in thickness.
