The Hunter Wellness Center was a remodel for Hunter Industries to meet the client’s needs for an improved workout area and upgraded locker rooms for their employees. The project included removal/demolition of existing skylights and installation of new skylights; as well as additional skylights to help provide more natural light into the main gym area.

In an effort to save energy the lighting fixtures include motion sensors that will automatically shut off the lights if there is no movement picked up during the day. The new locker rooms are larger than the previous facility and include tile flooring and wainscot, granite countertops and upgraded shower and changing facilities. The gym layout and finishes were coordinated with the head trainer for the Wellness Center and include items such as rubber workout flooring, hard surface on a wall for bouncing balls and other core training activities. A Hydration Station was mounted to the surface of the wall and provides filtered water that conveniently refills reusable containers in lieu of bottled water.

The remodel provided some challenges due to unforeseen conditions that were uncovered during demolition, which required re-designing an area and some additional rough carpentry to maintain a shear wall. The project was completed ahead of schedule, which enabled Hunter Industries to move the equipment into place and prepare for an early opening.
