Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) San Marcos, California
Construction of a 30,000 square foot DMV located on a 5.5 acre site in San Marcos, California. This facility will be the largest DMV in North County and replaces the old building in Escondido, California. The facility houses an Industry Business Center (IBC) (one of only ten throughout the state) and is also a Departmental Training Branch office.
The scope of work included the construction of a tilt-up concrete shell, tenant improvement, and site improvements. The site includes a 2,000 square foot canopy, entry roof covers, and covered outdoor patio areas. The building was designed to meet LEED standards and includes a curtain wall sunshade system to aid in sun control, bio-retention basins, drought-tolerant native landscaping, and water and energy efficient building systems. The project is seeking a LEED Gold Certification. To accommodate the increased traffic near the new location, extensive off-site improvements including new lanes and traffic signals were incorporated into the project.
